United Nations World Drug Report 2024 to Be Announced

The United Nations International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) will release its "2024 World Report" on March 4. The report is expected to include notable data regarding Turkey, highlighting an increase in drug treatment demands over the past decade.

Since 1961, in accordance with the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, the INCB has been publishing annual reports without interruption. This year’s "2024 World Report" will be presented at Üsküdar University’s Central Campus Senate Hall.

The report will be announced on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 14:00, by Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy, Vice Rector of Üsküdar University, a former INCB President, and a Board member for the 2005-2010, 2015-2022, and 2022-2027 terms. The event will take place simultaneously with the global release and will include the online participation of Üsküdar University’s Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan.

The report will feature significant data concerning Turkey, including the impact of Afghanistan’s increasing methamphetamine production on Turkey. Additionally, it will highlight a rise in drug treatment requests related to cocaine use as a primary drug of abuse in Turkey over the past decade.
